Bottlenose dolphins are very sociable and travel in pods, communicating by a complex system of squeaks and whistles.
They track their prey through the expert use of echolocation. They can make up to 1,000 clicking noises per second. These sounds travel underwater until they encounter objects, then bounce back to their dolphin senders, revealing the location,
size, and shape of their target or meal.
Bottlenose dolphins are popular in this area as there is a heavy water flow when the tides change offering them a large meal of fish each time.
For a better opportunities to see the Dolphin and other wildlife we have binoculars available at reception on request or our local Dolphin Spirit boat tour will take you from the Marina out into the firth. Contact -
